Stupid Womens' Libber!

Dear Readers;

I haven't updated for a few weeks because I have been in the barn ...ruminating. I was mourning the loss of an old friend. Now don't go and get all sad on me....because he didn't die ..he "unfriended" me on Facebook. Before he slammed that virtual door ..he called me a "stupid womens' libber".

Now weeks of...am I a stupid womens' libber?

 I've spend many hours cleaning the barn....feeding calves and alpacas....making soap...selling soap...smiling at customers...and asking myself over and over ad nauseum..."Why can't you just shut yo' mouth? Why do you always HAVE to push that enter button????"

I've reviewed my life from early childhood...the stories that I heard...apparently from the time that I could walk I would visit relatives from house to house. I say house to house because although I was cute as a button....apparently I would never shut the heck up! I was always asking question ...after question...until they showed me the door and I would throw my little red scarf around my neck as I marched off  undaunted to the next victim  errr...house.

Grade school I held  a classroom walk-out over the murder of the  white mice! Back then they called that a Biology project or some such nonsense. Of course nobody actually followed me out of the classroom! Later on it was a group of girls protesting the dress code of the school.....we won:) Then I quit going to church after seeing the priest drinking alcohol and the brothers chasing skirts. My foster mother sent me to the Sisters Of The Cross to explain my position. I must of done a pretty good job because they wished me luck on the search for a new spiritual path.

I know that I was a pain in the a... for my poor mother. We lived in a very small village and everyone went to church! She insisted that I go because the neighbours would talk. AHA! I had my out...she was afraid of gossip...of other peoples opinions. Come the following Saturday...I found some alcohol and got good and drunk before going to bed. The next morning I was so sick. I'm sure that my color was no longer brown but green. Poor momma..she was so angry but told me to go to church anyways!

 I always sat with my friends in the pews on the far left side of the church. The far left side because  when our friends came back from communion..the goal was to make them burst out laughing. Anyways....I kept acting like I was going to throw up...right there...on the heads of the people in front of me. I would then steal glances at my mom and she was either giving me the stink eye or looking horrified that I was going to embarrass her once again.

I wanted to be the cute..sweet..quiet girl..but in the end ...I am just....me. I am a born anarchist! People often think that an anarchist is a bomb maker and achieve their goals in a violent manner but that is only one definition.I believe in freedom of the people..freedom to follow your own belief system as long as that does not infringe on other peoples freedom. I believe in growing our own food...making our own power...building our own houses...simple living and high thinking. I believe in minimizing government and maximizing people power. I believe in the right to free speech and peaceful protest.

Am I a ..."Stupid Women's Libber"?

You're free to make up your own mind.

Power to the people.

Homa Organic Farming

Dear Readers;

 We know that the cow is so very valuable and not only for her milk,cream,butter,yogurt and ghee but her dung and urine as well. Here is an article from https://www.iskconbangalore.org/cow-protection.

Srila Prabhupada writes: The human society should recognize the importance of the cow and the bull and thus give all protection to these important animals.
In Vedic tradition, cows are worshipped as mothers. It is because just as one sucks the breast of one’s mother, human society takes cow’s milk. Similarly, the bull is the father of human society because just as the father earns for the children the bull tills the ground to produce food grains. Human society will kill its spirit of life by killing the cows and bulls which are to be considered our mother and father. To kill cows means to end human civilization.
A civilized man is, therefore, expected to give all protection to the bulls and cows. But in the modern society, spiritual knowledge is neglected, and cow killing is encouraged. According to Vedas, cow slaughter is considered to be an act of the grossest type of ignorance. In Rig Veda (9.46.4) the words gobhih prinita matsaram indicate that one who, being fully satisfied by milk is desirous of killing the cow is in the grossest ignorance. In Vishnu Purana, the Lord is glorified as go-brahmana hitaya ca: the well-wisher of the cows and the brahmanas.
Srila Prabhupada explains: For the cowherd men and the cows, Krishna is the supreme friend.  Therefore He is worshipped by the prayer go-brahmana-hitaya ca. His first business is to give all comfort to the cows and the brahmanas.  In fact, comfort for the brahmanas is secondary, and the comfort for the cows is His first concern.
Brhat Parasara Samhita states: Whoever feeds the cow with grass and water every day derives the benefit equivalent to performing ashwamedha sacrifice. It is also said in the Vedas that all demigods has their abode in the cow. By drinking the milk of the cow one develops fine brain tissues to better understand spiritual science. Also, from milk we can prepare hundreds of nutritious food. Milk can be transformed into yogurt, curd, butter, ghee and by combining these milk products with grains hundreds of different preparations can be made. Cow dung contains all antiseptic properties and is considered a purifying agent. A person can keep stacks of cow dung in one place, and it will not create a bad odor to disturb anyone. The cow urine and cow dung are used even for bathing the deities. The five important products received from cow, namely milk, yogurt, ghee, cow dung and cow ghee (called pancha-gavya) are required in all ritualistic ceremonies performed according to Vedic directions.

Three weeks back someone posted a Youtube video on Homa Farming on Facebook. Gord and I watched this video and we were inspired to  do this Agni Hotra at sunrise and sunset.  I perform the morning Agni Hotra and Gaura Nitai performs the evening Agni Hotra.

We noticed the change in the calves almost immediately. The calves have become so happy by the increase in purified energy that they run around and around ...playing with each other.  I'm sure that they are smiling and they have become even more affectionate towards us and each other.

 The ashes are collected in a jar and we will use them in the fields when spring comes.
I make the cow dung into strips so that they dry quickly.
Until next time.

If Cows Were People

Dear Readers;

If cows were people I think that our Randall's would be Scottish warriors..of the William Wallace (Braveheart) days and our Jersey would be a feisty but delicate English lady...who liked being pushed around on occasion. I say this with the greatest respect and love for our dear cows. You see last week I just wanted a day to myself to browse the stores. We had just spent a very stressful eight days nursing one of my sweet calves back to health. Now that he was up and about...back to his ol' self I wanted to get away from the farm and do a little retail therapy.

I'm not very comfortable driving our stick shift car. I have this deathly fear that I am either going to stall on a hill and roll back into vehicles and everyone is going to toot and curse  me or I could just plain run over someone at a cross walk because I'll shift into the wrong gear. Point being Gaura Nitai does not want me wasting diesel by driving the truck so he volunteered to be my driver for the day. Booo! I say because just try and relax while your husband is outside waiting in the car! While he was waiting he was told that their were two cancellations at the Buyers Trade Show for the very next day.

 We have never done a Trade Show so we had no idea what to expect and worse yet was we had decided to change our packaging to something simpler. We we're up until one in the morning repackaging our product and coming up with a new display. Although we were both exhausted the following morning we enthusiastically headed out to the barn to do our chores...only to find Sachi on the wrong side of the partition wall...bloated..on her side with an injured eye and ear!!!!AHHHHH! Gaura Nitai ran into the house to phone our Vet. Doc Lister told him to put down the phone and sit her up immediately. We both pushed and pulled and finally had Sachi sitting properly. She was dazed but alive. Of course both of us could not go to the Show so I volunteered because I'm good at nursing animals and Gord is great at selling.(It's that Scottish accent...women love it!)

 I gave her some Homeopathic remedy to help her recover from the shock. I sat and chanted my japa and watched her. I observed the scene and realized that  there was nothing really wrong with her except  that she was shaken up. (We give Sachi her own pen with water...plenty of hay and a fluffy bed of straw. If she is not kept a little separate then she may not get enough to eat because the Randalls are quite the boisterous bunch and as I said...she is a delicate lady....mostly.)  Now that things had calmed down I realized that after Gaura Nitai had fed and watered her the night before she had jumped the three and a half foot partition wall...her front leg had not cleared the wall and the momentum had flipped her over into an awkward position to close to the wall. She had no room to rock herself up into a sitting position. It was my fault I did not make it clear to her that...Hey diddle diddle..the cat played the fiddle...while the cow jumped over the moon...was NOT a FACT!
 Fortunately by the afternoon Sachi was back to normal and I put her back with the herd.

 I then managed to make it to Day Two of the Trade Show. We did good for our first attempt and now Om Made Soap is on the mainland!
Mother Sachi...the white paint is my homemade milk paint made from her milk:)

Until next time.
