From Beaches To Blizzards

Dear Readers;

 My husband and I have always worked for ourselves. We have owned crafting businesses,vegetarian restaurant/Inn,building companies,small subdivisions and many other small businesses. Although my husband was busy doing business I was either burnt out or bored. I mean honestly how many years is a gal to spend  lounging on a tropical beach? Eight years to be exact! I wanted to be an everyday part of a business that I loved to do.....so maybe we wouldn't make much money but money does not buy happiness anyways.

We moved back to Canada from sunny Panama. By the time we finished paying for our farm in Murray River,PEI we had approximately $6oo left. It was a horribly cold winter with blizzard after blizzard...our 1840 Victorian House was freezing cold. Fortunately the Buddhist Monks allowed us to bake bread for them and then we had a few more dollars to buy a few buckets of coconut oil and olive oil and essential oils so that we could make our first batch of soap. We had no idea what we were doing. We failed batch after batch but with each failure we taught ourselves what not to do. Fast forward almost three years and we have soap that our customers from far and wide are raving about.

Our lifestyle is simple so that we can keep the prices of our products low...low ..low. We truly believe that everyone should be able to live a healthy life without slathering their bodies with industrial waste.

 We don't make a heck of a lot of money but we make enough to keep our protected herd of cows in grain and hay. If our cows are happy then quite simply we are happy:)

Natha Making A Zen Garden For Calves?

Dear Readers;

 I finally found my camera. I had been looking for it for days and days. I thought that I had left it in the barn after taking pictures of Natha raking the calves Zen garden;)

Natha Das raking the calves pen.

Raking in a Zen fashion is a meditation.

 I searched the house...the sheds...the barn and the vehicles but nada...nothing. Then Gord remembered that perhaps I had put the camera in the glove compartment of the truck ...which unfortunately was in the repair shop in Georgetown for a week!
Wouldn't you love to have your studio right here??

 Yes....it was indeed in the last place I looked!

 Our summer has been absolutely beautiful! Selling soap on Sunday Market day has been perfect and drying clothing on the line has been a dream!

Taking down the tent...finished for another day....
Perfect clothes drying weather.....so fresh!

Mountains of wood.....
Gord and Natha are showing us that co-operation can move mountains. In this case that would be a mountain of wood. Nice job guys...we will be toasty all winter:)

See you next time.

Veggie Cookbook Author and Flea Market Decor

Dear Readers;

Natha Das showing off his vegetarian cookbook!
 We now have a resident cook book author, David Wright Aka Natha Das living with us for the next while. Natha Das loves to forage for organic greens for his delicious Green Smoothies. I never imagined that those darn thistles could be eaten! He has been zipping up a large Vita Mix smoothie once a day. He is making us all very happy and healthy:) If you come to visit we will make sure to treat you to this wonderful delight.

 The title of his vegetarian cookbook is Diet For The 21St Century. We will update where the cookbook can be purchased.

I have been working hard at decorating the house with thrift store finds and Kijiji PEI. I'm looking for a large coffee table but I haven't had much luck so I think that we will just use an old wooden door. Someone gave me a bag of wooden legs so I'm sure that my husband can cobble together a cool table in two minutes or less;)

 Until next time.

Henna Crisis

Dear Readers;

 Yesterday was quite an interesting day. I was so inspired by my daughters Rockabilly style. She was gardening and she had her bright red hair done nicely...red lipstick...winged eyeliner...and pink sweater. She looked so alive that I decided that I would henna my own hair. I haven't done this for the past two years because I've been rocking the "Juicy Crone" natural white hair look. Anyways I decided to put the paste on...and then cut the grass while the henna dried. Unfortunately just as I was finished cutting the lawn a truck pulled up with guests:0 My hair was coated in paste and grass and the paste had run down my neck...all the way to my pants. Needless to say ...I looked like a green gobbler monster! I did the only thing that a mature juicy crone would do......I ran like hell to the bathroom and hid!

 The family stayed for a little bit and it gave me a chance to introduce the children to the calves.

 I did want to show you all how the calves are loving their new sand bed.

 Natha and Gaura Nitai are doing such a great job cleaning the barn that I just had to share with a pic.

So that's it for today. It's a beautiful sunny day and I need to make lunch because I have company coming.
